William Lee Gallagher

GALLAGHER, William Lee, 83, of Hanover, went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2025. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marsha Gallagher; their daughter, Kelly Jamison; his parents, Eddie Elwood and Mildred Eleanor Gallagher; and his siblings, Elwood Gallagher, Richard Gallagher, and Barbara Newton. He is survived by his two children, David Gallagher and Shannon Campbell; grandchildren, Alexandra Gallagher, John and Elizabeth Campbell, Colton, Rosalie, and Savannah Gallagher; his great-grandchildren, Ben Gallagher, Luke Gallagher, and Lily Campbell; and his siblings; Catherine Herald, Louis Gallagher, Jerry Gallagher, Marian Fuller, Norman Gallagher, Sarah Payton, Rosie Newton, and John Gallagher; and many, many nieces and nephews. William had a passion for splitting and cutting firewood. His hat collection was diverse in styles, and he had even started to work on college team hats. He had a giving nature, often being a candy man as he always had sweets in his pockets for everyone he met. He was known to be an animal lover and was always happy to keep up with his grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on August 18, 2025, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A Mass will be held on August 19, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Catholic Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. The interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Hanover Memorial Park, 4447 Mechanicsville Tpke, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the Church of the Redeemer in his name.
