Velma Conner Bradley, 91, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, formerly of Columbus, passed away, Tuesday morning, July 29, 2025.
Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Conner and Nannie Nelson Conner. Mrs. Bradley retired from the Kemet Corporation in Greenville. She was a local poet and published a book, “Sounds of the Night”. Mrs. Bradley was a longtime member of Silver Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Bradley, who passed away in 2013.
Surviving is one son, Allen Bradley (Lolita) of Landrum; one daughter, Beverly Cooley (Craig) of Mechanicsville, Virginia; two grandchildren, Kevin (Melissa) Cooley and Breanne (Jeremy) Vradenburg; and six great-grandchildren: Lydia and Sarah Cooley and Hannah, Maycee, Liam, and Wade Vradenburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Silver Creek Baptist Church in Mill Spring, with the funeral to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dorian Jones, Karen Lee, and Suncrest Hospice for their dedication and care of Velma in her last days.
