Timothy Eugene Ryder

Timothy Eugene Ryder, 65, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away on October 27, 2025. He leaves behind his wife, Shelley; his children, Carolyne and Joseph (Brooke); his brother, David; and his sister, Lisa Jones (David). An Eagle Scout and avid outdoorsman, Tim spent countless happy hours camping and canoeing on Virginia’s rivers. He was also an exceptional woodworker—his creations grace his own home and those of many others. His family often joked that all they had to do was describe what they needed in the vaguest terms, and Tim would somehow build exactly what they had envisioned. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends, but we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace—happily canoeing on the rivers of heaven. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 4, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy, Mechanicsville, VA. 23111. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
