Theresa M. Keeton went to be with the Lord March 7, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Mary Mundie. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Wayne Keeton, her children, Robert R. Keeton (Susan) and K. Kay Thurman (Michael); her five grandchildren, Calvin Keeton (Jessica), Carole Ann Keeton, Karoline Ciccone (Peter), Karly Thurman, Kelly Keeton Thurman; and devoted brother and sister in law, Henry and Nancy Keeton.
Born and raised in Hanover County, Theresa graduated from Washington Henry High School; worked at DMV and as a bookkeeper. As a teacher at Kitty’s Kids at Shady Grove, she prepared many children for Kindergarten and touched all her students by sharing the love of Jesus and the stories of the Bible.
As a lifelong member (3rd generation) of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, Theresa lived her life by serving the Lord. Wayne and Theresa traveled extensively throughout the world spreading the Good News through mission trips. An abiding learner of the Word, Theresa served as a Sunday School teacher, Lay Speaker and Leader, and any role that God needed filled.
Theresa loved her family and friends who will remember her as someone who was slow to speak but offered Jesus’s love to everyone. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, solitaire and watching Westerns at the Rivah surrounded by family. Most importantly, Theresa will leave a legacy of a loving God and spreading the Word in a manner that was evident every day.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 21st, 2026 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 8209 Shady Grove Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23111 with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. The burial will be immediately following at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, VA 23222.
