Johnson, Terry Michael - 68, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away on February 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A woman of strength, warmth, and unwavering devotion, Terry built a life centered around love, hard work, and the joy of bringing people together.
Born on April 4, 1956, to the late Raymond (Mike) and Marjorie Michael of Richmond, VA, and the youngest of four sisters (including the late Peggy Davis), she completed the family with her deep-rooted love for home and tradition. She made every gathering feel like home, ensuring everyone who entered her world was embraced as family. Whether she was crafting, capturing moments in photos, baking cookies, or hosting loved ones, Terry infused each moment with thoughtfulness and care.
Terry’s memory will be dearly cherished by her husband and best friend of 42 years, Scott E. Johnson; her daughters, Amanda Napoli (Chris) of Goochland, VA and Lisa Johnson Kirby of Mechanicsville, VA; stepchildren Lori Everett (Jeff) of Richmond, VA and Scott Johnson Jr of Powhatan, VA; and grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Gavin Johnson, and Makayla Kirby. She is survived by her sisters, Charlene King (Jack) of Severn, MD, and Patricia Mitchell (Stuart) of Pulaski, VA; as well as her ever-faithful, four-legged companion, Lucy, and her grand dogs Gary, Foxy, Alice, Earl, and Hooch.
Terry was the heart of her family – the lighthouse guiding them home. She led with quiet strength, unshakable loyalty, and stubborn determination that made life’s challenges feel smaller. Whether making Halloween costumes by hand, exploring a new campground, or enjoying time on the river or beach, she found beauty in life’s simple joys. She believed in hard work (proven by 30+ years as a systems analyst/developer with the Department of Aging & Rehabilitative Services), good manners, and the importance of putting family first. She was always the loudest cheerleader, whether from the softball bleachers, the sidelines of life, or simply encouraging her loved ones to chase their dreams.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5 – 8 pm at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Family and friends are invited to share stories, laughter, and memories as we celebrate Terry’s beautiful life.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to her medical teams at Memorial Regional Medical Center and Legacy Hospice for their kindness and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Terry’s spirit by calling a loved one, creating something with your hands, or embracing a new adventure. Live each day with the love, resilience, and kindness that she so effortlessly shared.
