Stuart Wayne Dowdy, Sr.

DOWDY, Stuart Wayne “Bubba”, Sr. – 87, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jesse W. “Nanny” Dowdy; his grandson, Jason Raikes; 3 brothers, James Dowdy Jr, Thomas Dowdy, and Raymond Dowdy; and 1 sister, Jean “Sissy” Dowdy. He was survived by his children, Stuart Dowdy, Jr. (Debbie) and Robin Raikes (Rennie); 3 grandchildren, Mandy Maughan (John), Caitlyn Raikes, and Taylor Rae Dowdy (Freddie); and 2 great-grandchildren, Parker Maughan and Addie Rae Henry. Bubba also known as “Papa”, was an avid stock car racer and NASCAR fan.  He worked for local 147 International union of Operating Engineers, for over 25 years. He will truly be missed. A graveside service will be held, 1:00 pm, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Maury Cemetery, 2700 Maury Street, Richmond, VA 23219.
