Shirley "Mema" Crowder

CROWDER, Shirley “Mema” – 88 of Aylett, VA peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, December 11, 2023. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Tena Smith, and Cindy Harris; a grandson, Timothy Hertsch; and her sister, Janice Townsend. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Pam Coleman (Tommy); six grandchildren, Cody Coleman (Sydney), Katelyn Coleman, Storm Coleman (Karly), Natalie Balderson (Aaron), Mason Harris (Alison), and Jason Thomas (Jamie); and seven great-grandchildren, Conner, Brooklyn, Ryder, Skyler, Tatum, Maddux, and Brinley; and numerous other relatives and friends. Shirley was known to everyone as “Mema”. She helped to care for numerous children over the years as she assisted her daughter with her home daycare business, and they all called her Mema. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends, Friday, December 15, 2023, from 1 – 2 pm, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111 with a memorial service to immediately follow at 2 pm.
