RIDDELL, Sally Lee (Wash) Alley – 89 of Mechanicsville, VA passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband Alvin Lanier Riddell and her first husband, Robert “Bob” Alley; daughter, Terry Lynn Alley; parents, Robert W. and Sallie Swift Wash; siblings, Elizabeth W. Park, Dr. Robert W. Wash, William Wash. She is survived by her special niece and nephew, Betsy Park and Henry B. Wash; step-children, Lynette Metzger (Clyde), Marcia Carr (Rick), Doug Riddell (Sandy), Damon Riddell (Terry); 9 grandchildren, Tripp Metzger (Crystal), Neal Metzger (Laura), Eric Carr (Anne), Brandt Carr (Elizabeth), Mitch Carr (Claudia), Ryan Riddell (Hope), Corbyn, Vincent, and Dillon Riddell; 12 great-grandchildren, Camden, Chloe, Beau, Zoe, Carter, Anthony, Roman, Auri, Dixon, Thomas, Charlie, and Luca. Sally grew up in Lousia and graduated from Louisa High School. She then attended the College of William and Mary and the formerly known RPI, (now VCU) and worked in mortgages and banking for many years. Sally was a long-time member of the Church of the Redeemer. She spent her spare time volunteering at Memorial Regional Medical Center and in 2010 received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. The family would like to thank the staff of Covenant Woods for their dedicated care during her 10 years of living there. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy. Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a service will be held at 11 am, with a reception to follow. A private interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
