Sabrina Miranda Peterson-Harris, born Sabrina Miranda Peterson, was born on July 21, 1966 in NYC to Edmore Peterson and Dorothy Javier-Peterson. In her early years, Sabrina lived in the Bronx NY. As a young girl, Sabrina attended the “Harlem School of the Arts”. During her time spent there, she learned how to play the piano and practiced ballet. Sabrina’s parents later moved their family to Brentwood, Long Island, NY when she was a young girl in elementary school. Sabrina continued her education on Long Island where she completed middle school through high school, and then attended Molly College in Rockville Center, NY.
Sabrina attended the First Baptist Church of Bayshore where she participated in Sunday School during her childhood to teen years and continued as a young woman. She was an active singer in the Youth and Young Adult Choirs. Sabrina would later meet her future husband, Kevin, while singing in the Young Adult Choir. He was a musician and played the bass guitar for the same church. Sabrina and Kevin dated for 4 years after meeting in 1982. In 1986 they got married and gave birth to their first son Lamonte. Five years later, they gave birth to their second son Maurice. Sabrina and Kevin raised their two sons in Brentwood, NY until the year 1995, when they decided to migrate to Richmond, VA. This would be the final place called home. While in Virginia, Sabrina found another church home at Chestnut Grove Baptist church. She served there for several years. The Pastor, and her father in-law, left and was called into a ministry at the St. Paul’s Baptist church. Sabrina would often visit St. Paul’s Baptist church and later decided to join. While there she was involved in a few outreach groups and served as chairperson for one of them.
Sabrina had several hobbies and passions. She loved to read, cook, dance, attend concerts and plays, movies, go to the beach, travel, and meditate. First and foremost, in her life, was her spirituality and self-discovery. Sabrina was a Christian and had a personal relationship with God. She was also open spiritually to other ideas, teachings and customs. Second, and paramount, was her two son’s and her grandchildren. She lived for her children and grandchildren. The grands loved their ‘Nana’. They miss her already.
Sabrina was well known for her gourmet cooking and baking. She loved to feed people and enjoyed the fellowship with family and friends afterwards. Sabrina was also involved in the Boy Scouts and participated on camping trips as well. She earned her badges and was very instrumental in different changes within the troop. Sabrina worked with several organizations as a lead, and volunteered her time on the weekends and sometimes during the week. Sabrina was also a restaurant connoisseur. There aren’t many types of restaurants or foods she didn’t try. Travel was a huge must have as well. She loved to get on the road and drive. Ocean Water was Sabrina’s sanctuary. When she travelled near any body of water, a hotel room with a water view or oceanfront was always a must.
