HOVERSTOCK, Ruth Blankenship, 88, of Dinwiddie, Virginia passed away on January 15th after a lengthy battle with Cancer. She was born August 14th, 1930 in Petersburg Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father, John Arthur Blankenship, her mother, Christine Traylor Blankenship, and her youngest son, Darren Wayne Hoverstock. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Hogan, and Isla Marsden. Ruth is survived by her husband of 52 years, Henry Lester Hoverstock, along with three children, Julia Porter Wheeler (Leonard) of Colonial Heights, Charles Lee Porter (Bruce) of Chester, and Robert "Mac" Porter (Betsy) of Richmond. Ruth was also the proud Grandmother of 11 Grandchildren, many Great Grandchildren, as well as 3 Great-great Grandchildren. Many special niece's and nephew's remained close to Ruth throughout her illness. Ruth was a homemaker most of her life. She was extremely talented and artistic. She loved being creative with woodcrafts. Her beautiful creations were a passion of hers for many years. She shared these special items so many of her creations may still be seen in homes around the surrounding area; adorned with her signature, or initials. She will be missed by family and friends. All services will be private.
