ANDREWS, Ronald William, 76, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Alice Knox Andrews; and brother, James Douglas (Doug) Andrews. He is survived by his beloved wife Gloria Dale Martin Andrews; daughter, Katy Andrews of Mechanicsville, VA; his sister, Sandra Andrews McLeod (Richard) of Loudon, TN; his brother, Roger Andrews, Sr. (Grace) of Lawrenceburg, KY; his nieces, Terri Rando (Joe), Robin James (John), Gracie King (Chris), Kristen Mode; his two grand nieces, Maykala and Leah McLeod Nephews, Stephen Gee, Roger Andrews, Jr., Michael and Joey Mode; and his one surviving aunt, Ann Andrews of Blackstone VA and numerous close family members, friends and his church family. Ronnie had the kindest heart, especially for children. He married a devoted and loving wife who was dedicated to his well-being. Katy completed the family, and he was hands on in every aspect of her life. Ronnie faithfully and bravely served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He began his career with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) in 1971 as a technician in the Central Office in Richmond. In 1989, he became a member of the appraisal section of the District Right of Way Division where he frequently testified in condemnation cases as an expert witness. In 1992, he received his Certified Residential Real Estate certification with the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 2005, Ronnie was hired by KDR Real Estate Services as a Right of Way Specialist and continued in that capacity until his last day. He will be greatly missed, not only as a dedicated and competent employee, but also as a kind and gentle soul who was a friend to all. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM with a memorial service to follow at 3 pm on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Gethsemane Church of Christ, 5146 Mechanicsville Tpke, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.
