Robert “Bobby” Charles Sommer, Jr. 50, of Mechanicsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at VCU surrounded by family.
Bobby was born to Judy and Bob Sommer in Mechanicsville, VA. He was a graduate of Lee-Davis High School and made a career in sales.
To know Bobby was to love him and he had a smile that lit up an entire room. His two loves were his beautiful daughter, Lexi, and his music. Blessed were those of us that had the chance to see him in his element, playing the drums live with a band.
He is preceded in death by his beloved Godson, Mikolas “Mikki” Shay Rodriguez. He is survived by his best friend, his daughter, Lexi Bliss Sommer; his mother and father, Judy and Bob Sommer; grandfather, Elwin Pillsbury; his brother, Brian Sommer; and his sisters, Melissa Smith and Jenn Ripley. Additionally, Bobby was the best uncle in the world and will be so incredibly missed by nieces and nephews, Farren and Aidan Sommer, Gavin and Dylan Smith, and Juliet Ripley.
The Sommer family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses in the CCU at VCU. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Richmond Animal Care and Control Center in honor of Bobby’s little man, Buddy.
