Vaughan, Robert “Bob” Forbes – 84 of Mechanicsville, VA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. He was greeted in Heaven by his “Sunshine” of over 60 years, his wife, Shirley Vaughan; his brother, Kirk Vaughan; and his sisters, Joyce Guzman and June Locks. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Renee Norman (Billy); his granddaughter, Olivia Norman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bob proudly served his country in the US Army. He was employed for over 25 years with Richfood Wholesale Foods before becoming the co-owner of Old Dominion Food Brokers, with his life-long friend and business partner. He later sold his business but continued to work as an account executive for the new owners, Joseph Riley Corp. and Crossmark, until he retired in 2011. Bob served as a Deacon at Shalom Baptist Church, where he was also the director of Sunday School. He played an active role in the church and was the driving force behind their Hebrew Café. He loved the outdoors, boating, fishing, camping, and spending time at his cabin in Nelson County. He cherished the time shared with his family and church family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Shalom Baptist Church, 8116 Walnut Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23111. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the church.
