Robert "Bob" M. Ramey

RAMEY, Robert (Bob) Mintz, 80, went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 5, 2026. He was born in Reedville, VA, son of the late Katie Lane Ramey and Gordon Ramey.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Allen, and sisters, Elaine, Elizabeth, and Norma.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his three children, Michael (Lauren) of St. Louis, Jeffrey of Richmond, and Sarah of New York City; his sisters-in-law, Ruth Gandel (Bill), and Janet McPherson; his faithful companion, Brody; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob attended Northumberland High School where he played running back for the football team. Growing up on the Chesapeake Bay, he developed a deep love of boating, fishing, and hunting that stayed with him throughout his life.

After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, Bob served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War and later in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. He was employed by Philip Morris for many years before opening his own insurance agency which he successfully ran for more than 20 years before retiring in 2023.

Bob was a long-time member of Sandston Baptist Church, the Gideons International, VFW Post 242, and a Master Mason.

His family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, May 11th, 2026 at Sandston Baptist Church, 100 W Williamsburg Rd, Sandston, VA 23150, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. The interment will be at 1:30 PM at Providence United Methodist Church, 4001 New Kent Hwy, Quinton, VA 23141.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in Bob’s name to Sandston Baptist Church, 100 W Williamsburg Rd, Sandston, VA 23150, or the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
