Robert "Bob" Blade

 BLADE, Robert “Bob”; 72, of Mechanicsville, Virginia went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents Emil and Eleanor (Cantwell) Blade, sisters Barbara Donahue and Margaret Hoffman. He is survived by his wife Dayle (Ferguson) Blade, Matthew (Jordyn) Blade, Rebecca Blade, Robert (Monica) Blade II, bonus son Christopher (Christine) Hill, grandchild Evelyn, and bonus grandchildren Natalie and Teagan; siblings Frank (Dina), Jerry (Doris), James (Michelle), Bill (Lisa), Joe (Helen), Chris (Tina), sisters-in-law Christine Blade, Janet (Dennis) Davidson, brothers-in-law Don (Nancy) Ferguson, Dennis (Joy) Ferguson, several niblings, and many great-niblings, and his cherished grand-dogs Foster and Beamer. Bob was born and raised in Philadelphia, and being a true Philadelphian loved the Phillies and Eagles, soft pretzels, and a good cheesesteak. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and retired in 2015 from the DOD/DLA/DDMA. He was a member of the Church of the Redeemer, Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus 11042, Asst. Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 503, Vigil Honor Member of Nawakwa Lodge 3, a highly spirited parent of MRA Swim Team, avid bowler, and a horrendous dancer. He never met a stranger, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 11am Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Catholic Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. Interment will be private. A Luncheon will be held following the service at Covenant Woods, 7090 Covenant Woods Dr. Mechanicsville, VA 23111. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in his name to Knights of Columbus KOVAR and/or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
