Richard "Rick" Deemer

Deemer, Richard “Rick”, 69, of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Clair; his mother, Maryko; his son, Brad; his nephew, Joey; and his sister-in-law, Barb. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Shari; his daughter, Taylor Oladipupo (Deji); his granddaughter, Abigail; his brothers, Don (Cyndi), John (Yvonne), and Jim; his sisters, Dorene (Terri), and Marlene (Erik); and many other family and friends who mourn his passing.

In his youth, Richard played sports like baseball, basketball, and many more. While playing football, his team played against the T.C. Williams Titans, the same team portrayed in the movie “Remember the Titans”. In his adulthood, he still had a love of sports as he would coach and volunteer at the Mechanicsville Little League.  He found that gardening and coin collecting were some of his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed canning food and cooking amazing meals for his family with whatever could be found in the pantry. Meat and potatoes being his favorite things to cook.

A private family gathering will be held in honor of his memory. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetes Association, a program that empowers adults and children to reduce their risk or manage and thrive with type 2 diabetes.
