Baker, Richard- 87, formerly from Silver Spring, MD, and Martinsburg, WVA, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2025. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Carol Sadler Baker, and his parents, Frank and Adele Baker. He is survived by two sons, Steve Baker and Jim Baker (Lindsey), and two grandsons, Jake and Micah Baker. Richard spent 47 years working for NASA on projects including the Hubble Space Telescope, the Delta Rocket Project, GOES, and UARS, as well as other weather and science satellites. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church for approximately 40 years. Richard enjoyed keeping up with the news and would often pray over current events. He enjoyed workdays helping to maintain Camp Hemlock in West Virginia and loved target shooting with a group of friends, who referred to themselves as the “Berkeley County Shooters.” Richard was a devoted husband, loved his family, and was grateful and kind toward others. At key moments, he often suggested, "Let's pray about that." A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on August 11, 2025, at Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery, 4447 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, VA. 23111. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:30 AM on August 11, 2025, at New Bethesda Baptist Church, 9019 New Bethesda Rd, Mechanicsville, VA. 23116, with a lunch reception to follow.
