Patricia L. (Mandel) McCarthy

McCARTHY, Patricia L. “Patti”, 83, of Mechanicsville, VA, departed this life on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 with a strong faith and her family surrounding her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gerald McCarthy; and her parents, John and Margaret Mandel.

Patti was survived by her daughters, Paulette Beasley (Neal) and Michelle Dawson (Ken); her three granddaughters, Bridgette, Logan, and Aubrey; her dog, Bailey; her sisters, Margie Undrosky, Jane Thomas (Bill), and Susan Adamy; her brother, John Mandel (Kathy); her sister-in-law, Kathy Mueller; her brother-in-law, Larry McCarthy (Jackie).

For those that knew Patti, they would know how deep her love was for her family, especially spending time with her granddaughters. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Church of the Redeemer. She loved her church activities and being a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Patti was an active worker in the kitchen for the Irish Festival at St. Patrick Catholic Church for many years. Every week, Patti participated in a morning prayer group with some of her closest friends from Church of the Redeemer. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, her book club, and baking birthday cakes for everyone in the family on their special day. She loved to listen to her close friend, Cindy Jennings, when she would play at the pub or the Irish Festival. When she wasn’t listening to Cindy, she loved traditional country music.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 7th, 2026 at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Following the visitation, there will be a celebration of life at 6:00 PM so please bring your favorite stories of Patti to share. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 8th, 2026 at Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Church of the Redeemer.
