In Loving Memory of Oscar Matias Perez August 10, 1982 – July 4, 2025
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Oscar Matias Perez, who entered eternal rest on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 42.
Born on August 10, 1982, Oscar was the beloved son of Hilario Matias and Rosario Perez. In 2005, he emigrated from Guatemala to the United States to build a life rooted in love, faith, and service.
Oscar will be remembered for his big heart, generous spirit, and constant willingness to help others. He was especially devoted to his parish community, faithfully caring for the garden at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church—one of the many quiet ways he expressed his faith and service.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Eleazar Matias Perez. He is lovingly survived by his parents, Hilario and Rosario, and his siblings: Mateo Matias (+Elvira), Abelinda Matias (Santos), Oralia Matias (Genaro), Amelia Matias (Joaquín), Hugo Matias (Margarita), Magdalena Matias (+Ceferino), and Lucia Garcia. His family and friends will forever cherish his memory and miss him deeply.
A visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Oscar will then be transported and laid to rest in his native country of Guatemala.
Oscar’s life was a true testament to love, humility, and service. May he rest in peace.
