Norman Wayne Burgess

BURGESS, Norman “Wayne”- 77 of Mechanicsville, VA passed away, Friday, July 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman, and Virginia Burgess; his daughter, Christina Burgess; and his fur babies, Ted E. Bear, Toby Mac, Bodie, and Monty. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Kathy Burgess; brother-in-law, Michael Daily (Carol); sister-in-law, Karen Black (Tom); nieces, Megan Griffiths (Ryan) and Sara Knighton (John) and their son, Camden; and nephew, Ryan Black (Katelyn) and their daughter, Elena; and many other relatives and friends. Wayne retired from Henrico County after 33 years of service as Chief of monitoring and compliance for Henrico Water Reclamation Facility. He was an avid HAM radio operator and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and gardening. He was a lifelong Episcopalian and a member of the Civil Air Patrol. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm, Monday, August 5, 2024, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Interment will follow at Yeocomico Episcopal Church, 1233 Old Yeocomico Rd., Kinsale, VA 22488 at 2 pm.
