SMITH, Merry Robin - aged 78 of Mechanicsville, VA, entered eternal rest on October 30, 2024. Born on March 2, 1946, in Hampton, Virginia, she was the cherished wife of Glenn Smith, who preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage. Robin graduated from York High School and embarked on a diverse career path. Initially, she worked for the federal government, later transitioning to a homemaker to focus on raising her children. She re-entered the workforce at West Nursery, shifted to the banking sector, and ultimately retired as a branch manager from Village Bank, where her colleagues and customers became lifelong friends. Robin was known for her vibrant personality. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, often running into friends and ensuring she stayed in touch with them no matter the distance. Her infectious sense of humor and quick wit left a lasting impression, bringing joy and laughter to those around her. In addition to her professional and social endeavors, Robin was deeply committed to her community, volunteering at Enon Methodist Church and always ready to lend a helping hand. She is survived by her sons, Matthew (Ferebee) and Bryan (Bridget), and her beloved grandchildren, Millicent, Mason, and Jackson. The family invites friends and loved ones to a memorial service at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway Mechanicsville, VA 23111, on November 16th at 11 AM. A reception will follow, where attendees can share memories and celebrate Robin’s life. Robin's warmth, spirit, and generosity will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
