Matthew Connor Herron

Herron, Matthew Conner- 18, of Ashland, VA departed this life, Sunday, December 12, 2021. He is survived by his loving parents, Tina and Jacqui Herron; his grandparents, Jim and Velma Herron; and a host of extended family and friends. Matthew was a beautiful soul.  He was stubborn and moral to a fault.  He loved with his whole heart and was equally loved by so many.  Truly one of a kind. Matthew's two passions were sports and music.  He was a daredevil from the time he could crawl.  From climbing the roof to hang Christmas lights to jumping off the stratosphere in Las Vegas, Matthew had no fear.  An avid snowboard enthusiast, he conquered double black diamond runs at Snowshoe and had plans to travel to Colorado and even Japan.  From winter to summer, snow to water, Matthew did it all. Matthew's other passion was music.  He loved being a part of his school's drumline. They had a bond like no other.  Percussion beats could be heard throughout the house at all hours of the day and night, and Matthew used anything available as a drum.  Matthew had the best group of friends ever--some he had known since pre-school.  The memories are endless.  Matthew touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  His light will continue to live on. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm, Monday, December 20, 2021, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy. Mechanicsville, VA 23111 with a memorial service to immediately follow at 7 pm. The family requests that you bring your favorite photo of Matthew to share on his memory board. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention @ afsp.org.
