Mary Rachel McLean

MCLEAN, Mary Rachel, 90, of Mechanicsville, departed this life on Saturday, January 31, 2026. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Ulysses McLean Sr.; her parents, Reginald Lynn Wooddy Sr. and Mary Frances Woodall; her son, Ulysses Owen McLean, Jr.; her brothers, Reginald Lynn Wooddy, Jr., Roland Alfred Wooddy, and Frayser Jackson Wooddy; her sister, Lula Alma Napier; her grandson, Andrew Hyrum Thulin; her son-in-law, John Steven Thulin; and her great-grandson, Jason Malec. She is survived by her children, Esther Frances Thulin, Rachel Ellen Carlisle (Randy Landers), Lynn Paul McLean (Marian), Roland Eric McLean, Sr. (Robin), Mary Susan Merica, Joseph Ivey McLean (Doreen), and Donald Eugene McLean (Cecelia); twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-seven great-grandchildren. Rachel was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Rachel loved to pass the time by being an avid reader, making ceramics, doing seek and find books, putting together puzzles, and had a special love for Dick Van Dyke and the “I Love Lucy” television show. She was the best wife, mother, granny and great granny any family could ever ask for. The greatest happiness in her life was her family and spending time with them. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 6th, 2026 at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8005 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. The interment will be at a later date at the Wooddy Perrin Family Cemetery.
