Mary Lou (Yancey) Wright

WRIGHT, Mary Lou – 89 of Mechanicsville, VA went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Barrett Yancey, Sr., and Ruth Rhew Yancey; four siblings, Billy Yancey, Jewel Johnson, Ralph Yancey, and Jane Bowler; and the love of her life, John Wright. She is survived by her three daughters, Brien Britt (Craig), Laurie Givens (George,) and Amy Robinson (Scott); six grandchildren – Christopher, Paige, Patrick, Jacob, Tripp, and Mary Gray; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews. She grew up in Richmond, Virginia, and attended Thomas Jefferson HS. She was the office manager for Allied Crowder Sales and then worked for Rainbow Sales. She was a member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church where she served in many different ways, and she loved her Sunday School Class, Vota Vita. She was a Girl Scout leader. She loved watching sports of all kinds and playing cards and games but she especially loved reading. Mary Lou was kind, caring, and had a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 am, on Saturday, February 1, 2025, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 am, at Broadus Memorial Baptist Church, 5351 Pole Green Road, Mechanicsville, VA. A private interment for the family will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Broadus Church which will be used for mission work.
