LAYNE, Mary (Bobenia), 86, of Mechanicsville, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026. Born on September 29, 1939, and raised in Highland Springs, she spent most of her life in Hanover County. Mary was predeceased by her daughter, Ginger Layne Mack; her brother, Thomas Bobenia; her sisters, Norma Leigh (Harvey), Margaret Johnson (Clyde), and Blanche Brown (Hansel); and her niece, Debra Miller.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Howard Layne Jr.; her daughter, Cindy Wright (Tommy); three grandchildren, Andy Wright (Luisa), Mallory Wright, and Ava Mack; one great-grandchild; her niece, Sandy Miguelez (Mike); and her nephews, Jaye Miller, John Bobenia, and Eddie Sparling. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister, who loved her entire family very deeply. She loved spending time outdoors and took great pride in her home and yard.
Services will be held at 11 am, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Pastor Tommy South from Glen Allen Church of Christ will officiate. Lunch will be served immediately after the service.
