Mary Frances (Black) Johnson

JOHNSON, Mary Frances Black- 92 of Mechanicsville, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 14, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruby Black, a brother, Arthur Black Jr. and a sister, Evelyn Yates. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, William “Joe” Johnson; her daughter, Kelly Johnson; her son, Roger Johnson; three grandchildren, Natalie, Joel, and Jordan Collins; a sister, Betty Kegley and her husband, Roger; and a brother-in-law, Jack Yates. Mary was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church. In her younger years, she was employed at the US Naval Base in Portsmouth, VA, and in her later years, with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of VA. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was very passionate about teaching others American Sign Language. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 pm, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111, with a funeral service to follow at 1 pm. A private interment will be held at Hanover Memorial Park.
