Martha D. (Hobson) Smith

SMITH, Martha Hobson- 59 of Ashland, VA departed this life, on Friday, October 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Jane Hobson; her beloved husband, Kenneth “Kenny” Smith; and a sister Mary Bowles. She is survived by her daughters, Kelley Smith (David) and Kristin Smith (James); 2 grandchildren, Kenley Ann and David Kenneth Dobb; a sister, Liz Lowmaster; her fur baby, Zeke; and many other family and friends. Martha never met a stranger and would open her heart and home to anyone in need. She was always there to help others, treating them like family. She enjoyed trips to the beach, lighthouses, and spending time with friends and family around a fire. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and GiGi. She cherished her precious grandbabies and fought so hard to be with them for as long as she could while cancer ravaged her body. She was a warrior and a total badass. Her passing will leave a huge void that can never be filled. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm, Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am, Friday, October 11, 2024. Interment will follow at Hanover Memorial Park.
