MARTIN, Martha J. Ragland; 79, of Mechanicsville, VA went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 28, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luttrell “Junie” Martin, and her mother, Lillia Ragland. Martha is survived by her beloved children, Sharon Sale and Chris Bates; 2 grandchildren, Taylor Sale Bowens (Devin) and Chandler Bates; a brother, Anthony Ray Ragland (Frankie); a nephew, Tony Ragland; a niece, Kimberly Vandegrift (Bayard); a great-niece, Hailey Campbell; and many other family and friends. Martha retired from AT&T (which later became Lucent Technologies) after 23 years of service, and then continued to work part-time for another 13 years for Dominion Security. She was a member of Fairmont Christian Church. Martha was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who cherished her time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held, 1:00 pm, Monday, January 4, 2021, at Amelia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia Court House, VA 23002. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fairmont Christian Church, St. Jude, or the American Cancer Society.
