RATCLIFFE, Margaret Hamlett, 83 of Henrico, VA gained her heavenly wings, Sunday, November 17, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur, and Lula Anthony; ten siblings, and her late husband and father of her children, Charles E. Hamlett. She is survived by her husband, Harold W. Ratcliffe, Jr.; two daughters, Vernita Anne Doolin and Ellen Hamlett Martin (Tim); two grandchildren, Ryanne Wade (Shelley Hinson) and Elizabeth Anne Kitt; three great-grandchildren, J.R. Turner, Braelyn Castle, and Charlee Hinson; two siblings, Ruth Thomas and Lois Parr; and many other relatives and friends. Margaret retired from the Virginia State Tax Department after over 32 years of faithful service. She was an avid music lover and a singer on the Gospel Circuit with her husband, Harold for almost 10 years. Hailing from such a large family, Margaret was a second mother to her younger siblings. She was caring, compassionate, and always willing to help those in need. She always had a big smile on her face that welcomed others. Her loving and gentle spirit will never be forgotten. The family will receive friends from 11 am - 12 pm, Friday, November 22, 2024, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111 where a funeral service will begin promptly at noon and be followed by a catered reception. The interment will be held at Washington Memorial Park at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
