Major (retired) Lynn A. Lentz passed on June 2, 2020, born May 11th, 1940. Lynn experienced a typical American upbringing. He attended Youngstown University 1958-1962 and obtained a BA Degree in Psychology. He was then commissioned as a second Lieutenant in the US Army and became engaged to a beautiful fiancé, Eva. He entered active duty, married Eva, and ventured into a life of adventure and amazing experiences. His assignments started as an amphibian truck platoon leader, Fort Story, VA. Over the next twenty years Lynn served two tours in Germany, a tour in Belgium-assigned to NATO Headquarters, Shape Belgium. He also served a tour in Thailand and Vietnam, where he was a Med Truck Commander. Lynn retired active duty in 1982, Fort Lee, VA. Awards over the years included a Bronze Star Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal without leaf cluster, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, and an Army Commendation Medal. He continued serving the US Army as a department of Army civilian for 23 years. His first and second careers encompassed many challenges and rewarding experiences; all over the United States and overseas his career culminated with retirement in 2007. Lynn could not have had such a wonderful life without the support of his loving wife, Eva, and three accomplished and adoring daughters, Laura Lyne (Mark), Kimberly Ann and Amanda Jean (Nathan). We had great times and did not let the stress of multiple moves and extended duty separations preclude our happiness. Lynn had the joy of spending many hours with his five grandchildren, Ashlyn Shay Harksen, Addison Baker Harksen, James Cuinn Ronning, Jack Redmond Ronning and Elin May Ronning. Lynn was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. All services will be private.
