Lorita "Lori" Sue (Hopkins) Sherwood

SHERWOOD, Lorita “Lori” Sue Hopkins – departed this life on September 6, 2024, to live eternally with Jesus, her Savior and Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Zona Hopkins; her brother, Gene Moody; and her sister, Ellen Hopkins. Lori is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Paul L. Sherwood; her son, Mike (Michelle); her two beautiful granddaughters, Karlee and Lacy of Midlothian, VA; and her brothers-in-law, Robert (Carol) and Thom (Joan); and many other loving family and friends. She was a retired employee of the International Mission Board, SBC, having served our missionary families in Africa. Lori was a 9-year veteran of the US Army, serving in Augsburg, Germany; Camp Zama, Japan; and the Nuclear Defense Agency in Arlington, VA. As well as a member of Shalom Baptist Church of Mechanicsville, VA. The family will receive friends from 9 – 10 am, on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Shalom Baptist Church, 8116 Walnut Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23111, with a funeral service to begin at 10 am. Interment will follow at 1 pm, at Amelia Veteran’s Cemetery.
