Linda Dian (Clark) Strickland

Linda Clark Strickland, 78, of Sandston, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 11, 2026, after facing breast cancer twice and, most recently, lung cancer.

Born in Richmond, Virginia, on August 25, 1947, Linda was the daughter of Joe Philip Clark and Helen Burton Clark, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Glenn Strickland; many extended family members; and her beloved fuzzies—Katie, Beauregard, Roughy, Calvin, and Hobson.

Linda graduated from Highland Springs High School and attended the College of William & Mary, where she earned a B.A. in German and a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught German and U.S. History in Hampton, Virginia, where she was twice nominated for Teacher of the Year. She later moved to New York to work for Insurance Services, now Verisk Analytics, where she became training supervisor, before returning to Richmond as Regional Director of the company’s Richmond office.

Linda often described herself as a cradle Episcopalian and was deeply devoted to her Christian faith. She served on committees and vestries at Trinity Church on Wall Street in New York City, and Trinity Episcopal Church in Highland Springs, Virginia, where she formed many lifelong friendships. She also served the Diocese of Virginia through the Commission on Congregation Missions, helping the bishop oversee diocesan missions.

After her first experience with breast cancer, Linda became an advocate for others, serving for several years on the board of the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation and as its treasurer.

Linda was a great lover of animals and had many dogs and cats over the years. Some were adopted from shelters. Others showed up as strays, instinctively knowing that her doorstep was the place to come to find a loving home.

Linda also loved gardening and the outdoors, eventually becoming a Master Gardener. She especially enjoyed pruning, which she found therapeutic. A devoted fan of classical music and Frank Sinatra, she often joked that she spent many weekends with Frank.

Linda loved traveling with Glenn, sharing memorable trips within the United States, London, Paris, Japan, and especially choir tours in Ireland and England with the Piedmont Singers. They were affectionately known as “Pilgrims” for their supportive, non-singing role. She also cherished annual Thanksgiving visits to North Carolina with Glenn’s family.

Linda’s warmth, kindness, and faith touched all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered, and we take comfort in knowing she is at peace in God’s care. Truly one of a kind, she was a Kindred Spirit.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Varina Episcopal Church, 2385 Mill Rd., Henrico, VA 23231. Visitation and reception will follow the celebration of life.
