POLK, Lacy Carleton “Ted”, 78, died peacefully on Sunday March 16, 2025, in Hanover County, Virginia. Born on September 3, 1946, in Martinsville, Virginia to Lacy C. Polk and Juanita Polk. He leaves behind two sisters, Phyllis Liscum and Carol Ann Elliot; two nephews, two nieces, and sister-in-law Judy, (Bobby). He is also survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Arlene Jensen; and many devoted friends. Ted graduated from VCU with a BA in Art History and began his career at VCU’s Cabell Library. Later, he completed a Masters of Library Science from the University of Maryland and enjoyed a long career at the Library of Virginia until his retirement. Ted liked nothing better than walking on the beach at Nags Head, sitting with a cat curled on his lap listening to music and enjoying the peace at their home in Hanover Courthouse or dancing with Sandy in the kitchen. He cultivated a wide range of interests and was a musician, historian and collector. A friend to many folks and many animals. As he sails into the mystic and we say goodbye, he leaves us with treasured memories.
