Julia Meade (Wilson) Ferguson

Ferguson, Julia Meade Wilson of Mechanicsville, formerly of Varina, passed away on August 29, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John T. “Jack” Ferguson; her parents, the Honorable Judge Richard T. Wilson and Julia Meade Patterson Wilson; her sisters, Helen Cover and Patsy Hitch; her brother, Dick Wilson; and her granddaughter, Sarah Daniel.  She is survived by her children, Jack Ferguson, Jr. (Leah), Meade Welch (Randy), Bill Ferguson (Susan), and Pat Daniel (John); their families, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Raised in Petersburg, Virginia, she graduated from Petersburg High School.  She received her bachelor’s degree from Hollins College and a master’s in education at VCU.  She was a long-time mathematics teacher at Varina High School.

Friends can gather with family at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111, on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m.  A graveside service will be held at 1 pm, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Willis United Methodist Church, 8360 Willis Church Road, Henrico.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Area 31 Virginia Special Olympics, PO Box 28554 Henrico, Va. 23228, or a charity of your choice.
