Jerry was a homemaker, and after her husband’s death lived independently into her late 90’s. In her early married years, she endured many camping trips with her family. Jerry bowled both duckpins and ten pins until her early 90s. You would often see her mowing her grass and very proud she could start the mower herself. At 95, her son removed the spark plug so the lawn mower was “broken”. Every day Jerry would work the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper and always had a few puzzle books to keep her brain working, as she would say. Jerry enjoyed walking laps in the driveway until 2 weeks before her death.
The family expresses special appreciation for the love and care provided for Jerry by Vada Brusso, Linda Moore, and Laverne Taylor. She looked forward to their companionship.
A special thank you to Paula Otto who brought communion to Jerry weekly. There were stories, scripture, the Lord’s Prayer, and the occasional sweet treat. Jerry and her husband, Ed, were founding members of the Church of the Redeemer, Mechanicsville, VA.
A visitation will be Sunday, April 23, from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA. On Monday, April 24, at noon, a Requiem Mass will be held at Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Road, Mechanicsville, VA. The interment is at Signal Hill Cemetery.
