John Joseph ("Pappa") Heckelsmiller

HECKELSMILLER, John “Pappa” – 67 of Glen Allen, VA gained his heavenly wings, Monday, June 5, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronnie Heckelsmiller. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Kim Heckelsmiller, and their loving children and grandchildren, Brandy Cathey (Billy), Belinda Heckelsmiller, Brandon Heckelsmiller (Libni), Brittany Payne (Chris), Shane Phillips (Jessica), and Nico Nickels; 8 great-grandchildren, Liam, Caelan, Blake, Laci Bella, Ellah, Jase, Zayn, and Rowan; and many devoted friends and other relatives. John proudly served his country as a US Marine. He enjoyed fishing and bowling. He loved life, his family and dear friends. His greatest joy in life was the time he shared with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and he will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Friday, June 9, 2023, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
