HALTERMAN, JEAN L 73, A child of God and earthly angel joined her Heavenly Father on April 26, 2021 after a courageous and valiant battle with COVID-19, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to honor their Lord and Savior to the fullest. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Estelle Lambert, Sr.; her brother, Charles Lambert Jr. and her sister, Shirley L. Peach. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Steven Halterman; her daughters, Autum Maynard (Donnie) and Amber Halterman; 7 grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Kali, Noah, Logan, Elijah, and Mackenzie; 3 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Jackson, and Arabella; mother-in-law, Margaret Hardin; sister- in- law, Jeanine Ferdon Lambert; brother-in-law, Edgar McGhee, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many loving friends. Jean completed her bachelor’s degree at Eastern Nazarene College. Jean retired after 30 plus years of teaching at Central Gardens and Tuckahoe Middle Schools. Jean always took great pride in her school and students, and she shared her passion for learning with thousands of children over the years. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Jean, referred to as everyone’s Momma Jean or Nanny. She served as her family’s anchor, caretaker, encourager, matriarch, and their prayer warrior. She served others and her Lord and Savior all her life. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness, kindness and humor in everyone and everything. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. Jean had a strong will to live and an unwavering faith in God. The family will receive friends, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm, Sunday, May 2, 2021, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, May 3, 2021 at her church, Hope Community Church of the Nazarene, 8391 Atlee Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116 with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park. A reception will follow the services at Halterman’s Eatery, 109 Commons Park Circle Manquin, VA 23106.
