James W. Childress

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James W. Childress, age 71, of King William County. James, known to his family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and true friend, departed this life, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland Childress and Ruby Stewart-Childress.

He shared a deep connection with his beloved wife, Sandy, who was good to him and stood by his side through life's joys and tribulations for over 20 years. He leaves behind his two daughters, Michelle (Chuck) and April, along with his beloved grandchildren, Jason and Jackson, who affectionately referred to him as "Pickles." He also leaves behind his siblings, Garland and Linda.

Known for his witty sense of humor, intelligence, and the warmth of his heart, James took pride in his relationships with family and friends, always being the first to share a laugh. His loyal companion, a dog named Boss, was a constant source of joy and companionship in his life.

James had a zest for life that was reflected in his hobbies and interests. He was an avid fan of UFC and had a passion for true crime stories. He loved attending concerts and beach trips; often relishing moments spent with loved ones. His craftsmanship demonstrated his creative spirit, showcasing his talent and artistic flair. 

James W. Childress will be profoundly missed. Rest in peace, James. Your loving spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 pm, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 3:00 pm.
