James Gordon Bareford

BAREFORD, JAMES GORDON- 81 of Mechanicsville, Virginia, went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 30, 2025. He was born on June 26, 1944. He attended Faith Baptist Church in Tappahannock for many years, where he was the song leader and a member of a trio. James was currently a member of Rural Point Baptist Church. James retired from Kings Dominion as an electrical supervisor after 36 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Carson Bareford and Beulah Dunn Bareford; and his brothers, Jimmy and Lindsey Bareford. He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Thelma Milby Bareford; his sons, James Craig Bareford and Daryl Kevin Bareford (Michael); his daughters, Pamela Yvette Bareford and Andrea Hope Bareford; step-children, Preston Powell III (Marian), Debbie McKinney (Chuck), Theresa Wood (Mike), and Stephanie Bartol (Mark); his brother, Bobby Bareford (Barbara); and sisters, Brenda Kent (Robert), and Betty Courtney; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his beloved fur baby Pippa.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a funeral service will immediately follow. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Warsaw Church of God Cemetery, 15 Church Lane, Warsaw, VA 22572. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
