Jack D. Hardy, 92, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving day, November 27, 2025. He is preceded by his beloved wife of 59 years, Shirley Ann Hardy. He is survived by his three children; Lenny Hardy, Robin Donati, Laurie Bowes (Mike); his four grandchildren; Michael Bowes Jr. (Marianne), Brandon Bowes (Carla), Tony Donati, Natalie Garmon (Cory); and his six great-grandchildren, Caedon Bowes, Emma Bowes, Brandon Bowes Jr., Colt Bowes, Micah Bowes, Amina Garmon. Jack was born in Danville, VA. He began working as an electrician’s helper and moved on to a 45-year career at GE Supply, where he retired as Regional Sales Manager. He was a passionate UVA football fan, taking his grandchildren with him to games and spending time talking about sports with them. He enjoyed watching all types of sports on television in his spare time. He liked to play golf and tennis. Other than sports, he would enjoy long walks, being at the beach, traveling with Shirley, and listening to country music. He was also a founding member of the Church of the Creator in Mechanicsville, where he attended for over 50 years.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Rd, Hanover, VA 23069, followed by a reception at Monaghan Funeral Home.
