Irma Quiroz Vergara

Irma Quiroz Vergara – 94 of Mechanicsville, VA, formerly of Honduras, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her son, Josue Echeverria Quiroz; her parents, Maria Vergara and Alejandro Quiroz; and a sister, Nora Quiroz Vergara. She is survived by her children, Iris Nickols Quiroz, Edgardo Echeverria Quiroz (Jury Sanchez), Henry Echeverria Quiroz (Sarahi Burgos), Luz Jackeline Echeverria Quiroz (Omar Murillo), and Carmen Echeverria Quiroz (Phillip Mann); 17 grandchildren, Karla E. Nickols Quiroz, Maria J. Nickols Quiroz, Alejandro Antonio Zavala Nickols, Iris Carolina Nickols Quiroz, Johanna Ruth Massia, Harold Reyes Hernandez, Paola Michelle Echeverria Sanchez, Josue Adalberto Echeverria Sanchez, Josue Enrique Echeverria Ocampo, Maite Alexandra Garcia Burgos, Sophie Valentina Echeverria Burgos, Alejandro Jose Domingo Quiroz Echeverria, Sarai Jackeline Quiroz Echeverria, Oscar Josue Murillo Echeverria, Omar Joel Murillo Echeverria, Ana Gabriela Echeverria Quiroz, and Joseph Caleb Velez; 23 great-grandchildren with another one on the way, and 1 great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Olga Delia Quiroz Vergara. Irma was born in Honduras, where she worked as an accounting secretary for Secretaria de Comunicaciones de y transportes de Honduras until 1985. She enjoyed crocheting and eating, and was an amazing cook. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Landmark Baptist Church, 4000 Creighton Road, Richmond, VA 23223. A funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Hanover Memorial Park.
