GOODMAN, Hughlett Anderson “Red”, 85, went to be with the Lord, January 4, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents Hughlett and Ellen Goodman, and his sisters, Evelyn Thomas and Beverly Gill. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Nancy, his loving and devoted daughters; Lori Farr (Ronnie), and Karen Seay (Chad), his sister; Barbara Soukup; his cherished grandchildren; Evan Dunston (Bri), Samantha Volo (Salvatore), Kyle Farr (Kayla), Meredith Good (Michael), Madelyn Croxton (Tanner) and Patrick Seay, and his great grandchildren; Kolton, Francesco, Levi, Veronica, and Scottie. Above all, Red was completely devoted to his family. Employed as a brick mason for fifty years, he provided for his family through that craft, which he frequently used to help so many of his friends and neighbors, often at no charge to them. An avid outdoorsman, the name Red Goodman for many years became synonymous with turkey hunting in New Kent and the surrounding counties, and his passion for that sport remained with him during the 2023 season. Along with his wife, Nancy, he was a devoted parishioner at St John’s Catholic Church in Highland Springs for decades, and his Faith sustained him through many trials. His greatest pleasures in life were telling stories with old friends, hunting and fishing with his grandsons, and cooking for his family and all of their guests. He was a strong, loving, gregarious, and good man who will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday January 10, 2024 at 11 AM at St. John's Catholic Church, 813 W. Nine Mile Rd, Highland Springs, VA 23075. Interment to follow at 3:00 pm at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St John's Catholic Church.
