Hilda West Wright

WRIGHT, HILDA WEST, of Old Church, died September 18, 2013. She was born November 3, 1915. She was predeceased by her parents John D. and Lina Huckstep West, founders of West Store, her husband Charles E. Wright and sister Mabel West Wood. She is survived by her daughter, Hilda Harriett W. Hogue; son, Charles J. "Bubber" Wright; daughter-in-law, Marcella C. Wright; grandsons, Glenn Hogue, Dennis Hogue, Corey Wright; five great-grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew; her special children from church that called her "Grandma"; and many loyal friends. A special thanks to her loving care givers Kim Foreman and Anita Overman. Her favorite hobby was making Christmas stockings and tree skirts for children of friends and family. She was also an avid collector of John Deere toys and was often seen driving around Mechanicsville in her John Deere pick-up truck. She was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Old Church where she was the Treasurer of Sunday School for many years and a lifetime member of The Presbyterian Women. The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 2446 Old Church Rd., Mechanicsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Cemetery Fund of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice.
