Henry Louis Selden, Sr.

Selden, Henry Louis, Sr., 74, of Mechanicsville, VA went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 25, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Murrell G. Selden, Sr., and Emma Lou Schroeder.  He is survived by his lifelong soulmate and wife of 55 years, Betty Anderson Selden; 3 children, Henry Selden, Jr., Steven Selden, Sr., and Rebecca Selden; 6 grandchildren, Justin Selden, Daniel Loving, Steven Selden, Jr., Corey Selden, Ryan Selden, and Ashlei Selden; 2 great-grandchildren, Jacob Selden, and Nala Loving; a brother, Murrell G. Selden, Jr. and numerous family and friends.  Henry retired in 1996 from Philip Morris after a 30-year career in the parts department.  Henry enjoyed the outdoors and was enthusiastic about fishing and relic hunting.  In his youth he was a pole vaulter and competed in chess tournaments.  He loved his pets and his friends and family more than anything in the world.  Henry loved life and lived it to the fullest.  He will be greatly missed.  The family will receive friends, Monday, August 30, 2021, from 5 – 7 pm at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111 where a funeral service will follow at 7 pm.  A private graveside service will be held the next day at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
