KOLODZIEJSKI, Hattie, 95, of Glen Allen, went to be with the Lord on 28 November 2020. She was preceded in Death by her loving husband Frank G. Kolodziejski, her son James L. Kolodziejski, and 6 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Lapin (Jerry); grandchildren Howard Lapin (Stacy), Hiedi Chambers (Marc), Melanie McGrail (Randy), and Regina Zengulis; and 10 great grandkids. Hattie, or “Mrs. K” to the children that adored her, was named after the midwife who attended her birth on the family farm where she lived until her marriage. She moved with her husband to Weirton, WV where they ran a poultry market for several years. There she served as a Regent with the Women of the Moose.Hattie was working Labor and Delivery at Weirton General Hospital when they moved to Woodbridge, VA with their two children. Hattie’s husband Frank and son James were 4th Degree in Knights of Columbus and she served in the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Hattie worked in Labor and Delivery at Fairfax County Hospital, and eventually moved into the dental supply industry. Hattie could be found at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church singing in the choir, directing the children’s choir, or behind the organ whenever needed. After the passing of her beloved husband Frank, Hattie moved to Illinois and resided with her daughter. She continued working in dental supply and volunteered much of her time teaching catechism to special needs children at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Schaumburg. Hattie retired from the dental supply company twice and eventually returned to Virginia with her daughter. She volunteered at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville for 10 years and held the position of Volunteer Association President and Past President. Hattie lived with her daughter until her medical needs required full time care and she moved to Elizabeth Adam Crump Health and Rehabilitation in Glen Allen. There she resided for 10 years where she passed of COVID-19 related complications. Hattie Kolodziejski was known for her amazing hugs, compassion, tolerance, patience, and fearless wit. She loved to spread joy, soothe those who suffered, and dedicated her life to serving others through community outreach. She will leave a void that can only be filled by the compassionate and loving actions of all who knew her. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and concern for the health of Hattie’s loved ones, there will be a short service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ohio.
