Gerald "Jerry" Michael McCarthy

McCARTHY, Gerald Michael “Jerry” -  83, of Mechanicsville, departed this life on Thursday, February 22, 2024 with a strong faith and his family surrounding him. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred McCarthy; Jerry was survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia McCarthy; his two daughters, Paulette Beasley (Neal) and Michelle Dawson (Ken); his three granddaughters, Bridgette, Logan, and Aubrey; his dog, Bailey; his brother, Larry McCarthy (Jackie); his sister, Kathy Mueller; and his longtime fishing buddy and friend, Larry Fabiszak. For those that knew Jerry, they would know how deep his love was for his family especially spending time with his granddaughters. Jerry enjoyed spending his days bass fishing. He enjoyed watching UVA basketball or any sport on television, and fishing in tournaments. He loved taking trips up to Atlantic City with family and going to a pub to enjoy live music. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 PM on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 29th, 2024 at Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Church of the Redeemer or the VCU Massey Cancer Center.
