George Wesley Grubbs, Jr.

GRUBBS, George Wesley, Jr. – 77, passed away on July 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 11, 1948, in Hanover, Virginia, George was the beloved son of the late George w Grubbs, Sr. and Annie P. Grubbs. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his family. His love, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Swain Grubbs; daughter, Melanie G. Haskins and son-in-law, Tony Haskins; granddaughter, Victoria Leigh Haskins; grandson, Tucker Haskins and his wife, Caitlynn; his great-granddaughter, Lainey Faith Haskins; sister, Dale G. Anderson and her daughter Gloria D. Holt (Scott); and many other family and friends. George proudly served his country in the US Army. He spent many years working as an appliance repairman with Lipscombe Appliance in Mechanicsville. He was an avid gardener and spent many hours cultivating a beautiful yard. At Christmas, his home was transformed into a winter wonderland. When he wasn’t planting flowers or decorating, he spent hours doing jigsaw puzzles. His memory will live on through the love he shared with his family and the countless lives he touched throughout his 77 years. The family will forever cherish the memories they created together and take comfort in knowing that his legacy of love will continue through the future generations. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 4 – 7 pm, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Compass Christian Church chapel. A private interment will follow.
