DIGON, George E., 84, of Mechanicsville, Virginia peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his son George E. Digon, Jr. and his brother Paul Digon. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Judith N. Digon; his daughter, Lorrie D. Shevrin (Mark); his three grandchildren, George Digon II, Zachery Digon and Samuel Shevrin. He is also survived by his sisters Jean Neely, Elaine Christy, Nancy Kauses and Mary Ann Sinclair and one brother James Digon. George was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in France. He was the owner of Digon’s Used Car Sales in Sandston, Virginia for 47 years where many of his customers became lifelong friends. He always appreciated all the hard work of his employees past and present that help make his business successful. George was the owner and breeder of thoroughbred horses for many years and took great joy in watching them race throughout the Mid-Atlantic racetracks. His biggest smiles were when he was standing in the winner’s circle. George loved animals and adopted many dog and cat strays that found their way to his shop. Per George’s wishes there will be no services. Donations in his memory can be made to the James River Horse Foundation. Donations can be accepted online at https//www.jamesriverhorses.org/donate/ and by mail at PO Box 346, Oilville, VA 23139
