CORNS, Franklin Garner; 83, of Richmond, departed this life, on Saturday, May 11, 2019 with his devoted family by his side after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Winnie; daughters, Debbie Corns (Donita) and Lisa Skelton (Tim); and grandsons, Adam and Josh. Frank was born in Seth, West Virginia (Boone County) as the son of a coal miner. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He taught cosmetology at The Flair Beauty Institute in Richmond and later opened his own salon in Westland shopping center, called Dean Frank’s Hair Fashions. That is when he became well known as of Dean Frank. Frank was the very proud Patriarch of his family and was a dedicated husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He was always willing to help anyone in need and never met a stranger. He was a great storyteller. He cherished his time spent with his family, cheering on his beloved Mountaineers and UVA Cavaliers, fishing and NASCAR. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice for their exceptional care during his illness. Soar High Daddy and go catch the big one! We will all miss you so much; but we have so many wonderful stories and memories of you to cherish in our hearts for a lifetime. Until we meet again, we love you! The family will receive friends, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 5 – 6 pm at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dementia Society of America.
