Frances Ann (Hawkins) Price

PRICE, Frances Hawkins – 86 of Mechanicsville, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Etta Hawkins, and her sister, Margaret H. Powell. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald W. Price; her children, David W. Price (Rebecca), Dana K. Swords (David), and Christine P. Abelow; and three grandchildren, Dawson, Carlie, and Donald Swords. Frances grew up in New Kent County and graduated from New Kent High School. She then went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree from Flora MacDonald College. She was a teacher for Hanover County for several years before beginning a career with the IRS, from which she would retire after 22 years of dedicated service. Frances enjoyed traveling, gardening, and bird watching. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 5 - 7 pm, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Roanoke, VA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
